I upgraded from a 3070 to a 4070… Very happy with the upgrade. I use a 14900k and stream games with dual monitors both 4K. The system is a silent, passive PC (mostly) and is built for efficiency. CPU clocked at 5.1 and doesn’t go over 130W under full load GPU is the same, 130W 100% load at 2625mhz

It all comes down to the situation of people and with all due respect a budget pc is not useless after 3 or 4 years. Iam speaking from experience because i kept my i5 third gen lapto for 10 years and then sold it to my friend and that device does satisfy all of his computing needs and even after 10 more years it can still do simple computer tasks and even play old games with the gt 730 4gb and 16gb of ram that it has.

I would get into the specific model to determine and advertise what is good. I have a dead SanDisk Cruze 32GB I never wrote to but a live distro image, twice. I found out it died after I tried to use it again. It blinked a couple times and went silent, no matter what port I plug it into. I looked it up for solutions, apparently many other people have this issue and the common solution is to scrap it.

In the 1980s, some people said that 16 bits was enough for everyone. Maybe 50 years from now, we will laugh at this video when we watch it on a 1024 bit computer.

  • @tednicholl7025

Your explanation of populating four DIMM slots is very bad. For performance you would want to populate ONLY slots A2 and B2 because this is dual channel on ONE LANE. When you populate four slots you are putting undue stress on the memory controller because now it's managing two lanes and essentially slowing the RAM. For best performance, and ALL motherboard manuals state best practice to be 1DPC (DIMM Per Channel). So with this in mind, when upgrading RAM, upgrade in pairs of a larger capacity,. don't just add RAM, that's a very poor recommendation. Only populate two slots and sell your old RAM because it is a detriment to performance going any other route.

This made 3 years ago? Makes sense. Today, the DDR4 reached the top, like my SSD 990 PRO which has DDR4266Mhz. However, I don't know its latencies. What I do know is that, 2x16GB 3600Mhz 1.35V 18CAS, the cheapest Corsair LPX, it's one of the best pair I've ever had. I use my new pair like my previous one, 2x8GB sticks. 3200Mhz, 1.3V 16/17/17/35/49 1T (460Trfc). All I'm trying to say, the first batches of DDR4 weren't the best as it always happens. Later they improve them by a lot. Same will happen with DDR5. Now they're expensive with terrible timings for, let's say, 5600Mhz, but in a while with the same or even a little lower timings and voltage you'll be able to reach over 6600-6800Mhz at the very least.

The reason why I need pure sine wave UPS is because the Receiver / Sub Woofer Amplifiers that I have for my surround sound system hooked up to external speakers are getting a LOT of static noise when on battery with stepped approx. sine wave that they don't have when on mains. I believe a pure sine wave UPS will fix this and it's a lot cheaper than upgrading my audio equipment which is already Polk Audio + Yamaha + Aftermarket plate amp to replace a Polk Audio amp that died. Other than that, the gaming rig has been running just fine regularly on stepped sine wave for years and it does have Active PFC. Of course it's a quality Seasonic PSU, I believe based on the very famous original S12 series with a 5 year warranty that I have carried from one gaming build to another for over a decade now and it still runs great because I blow the dust out of it yearly. I switch over to battery daily in the summer afternoons when electricity prices are 4x and recharge in the evenings when electricity prices are cheap. All automatic with Kasa smart switches, etc. Of course my battery bank is also custom built but I tap into it with the UPS... Saves me a bucket of cash on my power bill. The only problem I have is with my audio...

hi thanks for video. here 1070 + r5 2600 + 16 gb. mostly playing competitiv games now i have fps drops around 40. Playing low setting (deadlock, apex, etc). and average is 90-100. Im about to drop that 2600 for a 3600 and it migh be the problem for fps drops (had to change thermal pasta 2 times yet). Is it a good choice for a 70-120$ish budget ? i hope to reach stables 80-90 fps in teamfights ahha. thanks :)

I switched from a 5900X to a 7800X3D and worst case scenario, productivity it slightly worse, but most tasks are faster/smoother and general PC use is significantly quicker even when the 5900X machine was clean. More cores doesn't always make for a better experience, especially while AMD's 12 core and up chips are dual CCXs with more latency, a lot of performance problems are caused by that

My theory is that deep down we're all still attempting to recapture the feeling we got during the birth of silicon graphics. I tend to think we're all just attempting to control our electronic environment to achieve it. It seems that for now, The desktop is still not quite yet equal to a full blown graphics work station render box. I sense that time may be fast approaching. I think we better address the audio elephant in the room. = PC Speakers HISS + DAC suffer from grounding issues.

There's a handful of games that benefit from more than 32GB. Most people wont need it. Star Citizen I play most of the time, that absolutely benefits from more than 32GB, it Normally hovers between 22 and 28 GB Occasionally goes in the 30's even in the high 20's Windows is using some Ram and goes to 100% It can mostly allocate and manage it well but since getting 96GB there used to be a lot of stuttering I put down to the game servers, optimization that I thought were incurable but it's so smooth now ESP coming in and out of QTravel. arriving at planet hotspots.

Intel will not have 40 and 50 core count cpu's for a long time because E-cores do no count they are not the same as the P-cores. Will be a long time till there is an Intel CPU with 18-24 P-cores
